635519032105655437-asheville(Asheville Citizen-Times)  Tourism officials have found their next advertising agency, an industry heavyweight hired to market the city and its tourism amenities to a global audience.

Explore Asheville said Thursday it plans to hire Atlanta-based 360i as its new agency of record. The firm, which has worked with United Airlines, Oreo and Fox Sports as well as the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corp., was selected from four finalists to provide advertising and data services for Explore Asheville under oversight of the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority.

The BCTDA will pay the agency a retainer fee of about $142,000 a month for its services in addition to “a more sophisticated suite of tools, data science guidelines and consultation in emerging technologies and opportunities.”

Because there was not a quorum of BCTDA board officials during Thursday’s meeting, Marla Tambellini, Explore Asheville’s vice president of marketing and deputy director, said Explore Asheville will return to the board later this month to request about $495,000 for its contract with 360i.
