6c2b7d91-586b-4a9a-a333-0638ad215ec5-buncombecounty_commissionermeeting_12042018_0032(Asheville Citizen-Times)  The next person to lead Western North Carolina’s largest local government will be decided next week. Buncombe commissioners are scheduled to vote on a finalist for the county manager position during a special meeting 4 p.m. Tuesday, just before their regularly scheduled session.

Chairman Brownie Newman said commissioners have shifted their focus on one candidate after launching a national search last summer. George Wood, a former manager in Lincoln County, has led daily operations in the interim.
